2020 Updates

November 28, 2020

Last time I posted was in July. All things considered, after reflection, a lot of stuff has happened since then. I officially joined the band Strings of Indian Creek, so I guess that is definitely a fun update!! They released their album that I did some fiddle tracking for and there's whispers of a new album in the works... Croghan's Crossing played a number of cruises on the Mary M. Miller and the Belle of Louisville Riverboats.  I got to play some acoustic shows with my buddy from Jericho Woods, Josh Mitcham. My music store, Kentuckiana Music Center, FINALLY had its grand reopening. KMC had a kick ass Medieval Fair at Floyd County Brewing and a huge Halloween Hunt with street musicians in downtown New Albany. I've also stayed busy with recording for folks. I've done some recording for Tyler Stiller, Strings of Indian Creek, Jacob Resch, The Hill Figs, Josh Mitcham, and Laren Rapp. I got a new section on this website where you can check out my recording work. If you need some fiddle/violin/string ensembles for your song hit me up. My rates are $50/hour or $100/track.

In March pretty much everything in the music industry came screeching to a halt. I've pretty much been in survival mode. Unemployment never came thru for me, so I ended up taking up a 'work from home' temp job taking calls on the KY Covid19 Hotline. That's been super interesting. My music store, Kentuckiana Music Center, finally got to reopen in June. I've been busy keeping it afloat, so far so good. A few outdoor gigs and weddings have popper up here and there, but overall it's still a very unpredictable work climate. I've finally updated my gig schedule, so if you feel safe going out I'd love to see you all!

Kentuckiana Music Center

July 2, 2019

Announced the big news that I'm the new owner of Jimmy's Music Center! The store is moving to the corner of Pearl and Elm St in downtown New Albany. The name will be Kentuckiana Music Center, a throwback to the original name 30+ yrs ago. The store will continue to offer lessons, instrument rentals, consignments, repairs, retail, and I'll be adding a booking agency component for any local bands/artists/ensembles wanting help booking gigs. The store's social media and web presence will be up within the next 30 days so keep an eye out! We hope to be moved into our new space by Aug 1!
